Pray and Fast for Pakistan

Dear Friends,

Below is an email from our Anglican priest friend, Brother Riaz, in the Diocese of Peshawar, Pakistan, sent today.  We lift them up in prayer every Sunday, and yesterday I realized that it is no small thing that we do this.

Please offer up a sacrifice of your own this week for their sakes, and as you do, pray that the Lord would grant these families a peace that knows no bounds.

Pray for Bishop Humphrey, of his diocese, and all who need God's strength and protection as they live through this nightmare, and minister to those who have suffered such a heavy loss.
Dear  Friends

It's a sad news indeed for the whole body of Christ, that 2 suicide bombers attack during the Sunday Service at All Saints Church Peshawar Pakistan, they blast two bombs and killed more than 100 people including children.

The All Saints Church is my native Church where I have been baptized and grown and confirmed. It is a historical church which was build in 1806. However, it was a mosque-shaped church so when people were trying to fix a cross on the church the local Muslim community opened fire on them and killed dozens of Christians. That's why the Church was named All Saints Church.

Deadly blast Hits All Saints Church Peshawar Pakistan; though news says 56 people killed but the real figure is 130 and Leaving Over 150 Injured -

An update: our friend and Anglican priest, Nazir, who studied at the seminary in Austin a few years ago, just emailed me this morning to say that his youngest brother and niece were both killed in the attack yesterday.  May they rest in peace and rise in glory on the last day.

I think chiefly of his brother's widow and son now.  May we pray and fast for them and the future of Christians in Pakistan.

Here are the latest articles on the national church's website.  The second is by a former dean of the seminary here, who was the one who began inviting priests from Pakistan to come to Austin, the Rev. Dr. Titus Presler.
